Business spirit burns bright in 11-year-old

Entrepreneurial Palmwoods boy, Kingsley Goggan has celebrated the first birthday of his business ‘Kings’ Fiery Candles’, having initially started it to earn some pocket money.

“At first, I didn’t want to keep asking my mum for money and I wanted to buy a guitar,” Kingsley said. “So she suggested that this might be a good way to earn some money.”

Kingsley was only 10 when started learning candle making alongside his mum, Linda Goggan. Linda is the owner of Sacred Body, in Little Main Street Palmwoods.

“I actually really love making candles and experimenting with fragrances,” said Kingsley. “I make hand poured soy candles and so far I have developed 6 fragrances which include Pink Sugar, Coconut Lime, Driftwood, Vanilla, Sandalwood and Passionfruit. I am excited to expand my range to include tea light and jumbo candles, and essential oils.”

Kingsley has co-designed the packaging and is launching a beautiful soft gold jar in time for Christmas. “The other best thing about my business is that I get to talk to lots of new people, even though it is taking me out of my comfort zone a bit,” he said. “As my business is growing, I am planning to donate $1 for each candle I sell to charity at the end of each month. And I have also been able to buy my guitar, so I’m pretty happy about that!”

Kingsley sells his candles on Saturday mornings between 8.30am and 11.30 at 8 Little Main Street in Palmwoods. You can also order candles from his website www.kingsfierycandles.com
